Tatsuzo Shimaoka (Web Pottery )

Born in 1919
Born in Atago-cho, Shiba-ku, Tokyo (currently Atago, Minato-ku, Tokyo)
Her father is Yonekichi Shimaoka, a braid master. My teacher is Shoji Hamada.
1941 Graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Department of Ceramics.
1954 Built a kiln in Mashiko Town.
Received the Japan Folk Crafts Museum Award in 1964 .
1980 Received the Tochigi Prefecture Cultural Merit Medal.
1994 Received the Japan Ceramic Association Gold Award.
1996 Recognized as a nationally designated important intangible cultural property holder (Living National Treasure) for folk art pottery (Jomon inlay).
1999: Received the Order of the Rising Sun, 4th Class with Small Cordon.
Passed away on December 11, 2007 at the age of 88
